Steve Roggenbuck inspires people. Through countless macros, flarf, poetry, ustreams, vlogs (where he passionately shouts into a camera), blogs, tweets, Facebook comments, blog comments, re-blogs, tours of the Northeast, he does it all. How all these things can come out of one person I just don’t know! Perhaps Steve has managed to clone himself in order to spread his love far and wide. Certainly he’s come a long way from his humble origins in rural Michigan. Now he lives on the internet instead of a physical location. Maybe someday I’ll transform myself into a web based sloth like he’s transformed into a web based person.
“i greet myself at the beginning of a great career” comes out October 19th, one year after Steve’s sleeper hit of a chapbook “i am like october when i am dead”. Remember the excitement, the madness, the chaos that ensued from that endeavor? Then you might have an inkling of an idea of how massive this new book will be. But really, you have no idea. For this one is completely different. Steve’s new book will be over 300 pages long of epic greatness. You know how you can get surrounded by his bubbly enthusiasm for life on his website? Well, now you can experience those good vibrations far away from Wi-Fi access, whether you’re on the go in Mongolia, Bhutan, or Northern Greenland. With this book you will be filled with love for humanity as written by Steve Roggenbuck.
This will occur on October 19th, 2011. For those of you itching to meet Steve in real life (where he can’t always be found) there’s something happening. Something grand, mind-blowing, life changing and life affirming will be coming, perhaps to a town near you. Steve Roggenbuck is internet poetry’s evangelist. Without him internet poetry might not have this lust for life. Anyone living in the Northeastern part of the United States will be able to see him. Important towns like New York, Philadelphia, and Baltimore shall have Poncho Peligroso (2011 Poet Laureate) and Steve Roggenbuck (SEO of the internet) visit you. Poetry will be read. Good times will be had. As an added bonus, I’ll be at the readings in New York and hopefully Baltimore. Enough prodding may result in me reading some of my blog posts as part of my East Coast blog tour (New York August 6th and Baltimore August 9th). Only I can decide whether or not to reveal myself, but let it be known even without a ‘great reveal’ I’ll continue to support these two wonderful people from the comfort of my own tree. Look at that poster. It is made in some fancy inspirational font, probably Times New Roman or something.
Watching Steve’s trailer for his upcoming book, I’m reminded how much has changed in the course of a year. Steve’s internet presence has skyrocketed exponentially. The internet has watched him mature into a crazed, demented, poetic internet genius. If you invested early in Roggenbuck stock, your shares might have increased by roughly 125% since October or more. Considering the volatile state of international stock markets, doesn’t it make sense to put your stock with Roggenbuck?
I hope this phrase can catch on in 2011:
Put Your Stock in Roggenbuck

hahah Put Your Stock in Roggenbuck
ReplyDeletethank you very much beach sloth, this post made me smile a lot
I didn't know who Steve Roggenbuck was last October.
ReplyDeleteNow I know him so well that I have added his last name to my spell check dictionary.
Imagine how well I will know him by this coming October.
Maybe about the same. I don't know. Unless his tour comes to Australia. Or unless he releases a 300+ page liefstyle guide/manifesto.
I'm going to make a t-shirt that says "Good ol' Roggenbuck" on it.
Thank you Steve. I really enjoyed writing this one. I'm glad you like it. I look forward to seeing you on tour.
ReplyDeleteRollerfink, that is a wise decision. You might want to wait though: I heard a few retail outlets have plans for a Roggenbuck T-shirt.
