Megan Boyle Baltimore Edition Part I

I am live blogging tonight. Nothing can stop me. Yes, I know how much I’m risking in terms of potential friendships, meeting new people and actually speaking to Megan Boyle. Jordan Castro already interviewed her though, so any attempt by me to do that would be futile. Besides I’m not much of an interview blog. Maybe that can change but not tonight. Watching Jordan’s interview discourages me as well. His interview was very hard hitting. I don’t think I can compete with that. Watch it here and see his smack down of all Megan holds dear.
Glad I am seeing Megan perform live. I have seen her before on ustream. While ustream is great and all, there’s something to be said for awkwardly sitting in a corner of a room, glancing up occasionally but mostly avoiding any interaction. For I’m a reporter of sorts right now, trying to get the ‘scoop’ on this up and here writer. How will this reading even go? I don’t know. I hope well. Perhaps some kind soul will record this for posterity.
Despite the fact I currently live in Baltimore and Megan lives in Baltimore we have never met in real life. Real life has seen fit to keep us away from each other, separated by laziness, indifference, and the American way. Blogging has brought us together since neither one of us actually have to travel anywhere. Maybe blogging is the new vacation, down the information highway instead of an actual, physical highway. Also it would explain the phenomenon known as the ‘stay-cation’.
‘Dionysus’ is hosting this sweet reading. According to its blogspot it does this on a regular basis and serves quality food at a reasonable price. It is located in Mount Vernon, because Mount Vernon is hip as fuck. Mount Vernon is probably the only livable part of Baltimore, the part where all the art students and undergrads live. Wish I lived here but I don’t. I’m not alt enough. Someday I will be but not today. It is near the Brewer’s Art, which is a fairly excellent bar that I strongly recommend since any recommendation I give there gets me a free Belgian imported beer brewed by monks. Not sure about this place. Not feeling the vibe here, feel like someone here is killing the vibe. Perhaps that will change shortly.
Megan and the Boyles have started playing. Those of you not in the know that’s Megan’s latest band which rocks. In this band Megan goes back in time to become sixteen years old and sings trite lyrics. You can watch some of their life-changing videos on YouTube right here. I’d like to say I didn’t cry several times during their performance but that would be a stinking lie.
Well, it is about to begin. I must prepare myself. I wonder if I will introduce myself. Perhaps if I do I may receive free beers. I wonder if it is ‘worth it’. But what do you think?
