Ah the
reviews keep on coming. You’d think it’d be over, that everybody who wanted to
review already reviewed. I’d say that’s a bunch of malarkey. Traditional media moves
slowly. They tend to take their time ‘analyzing’ stuff and working to get paid.
Muumuu House offers a look into a publishing house of the future. Tao’s
approach to Muumuu House strikes me as particularly modern if not downright
clever. That is why traditional media is so divided about him.
Wall Street Journal covered the Monday night reading. They began with Tao Lin’s face
and Xanax prescription. Perhaps they talked about more, but I can’t tell. I don’t
have a subscription to the Wall Street Journal due to my crippling poverty. As
an aside this isn’t the first time Tao has been in the Wall Street Journal. He’s
done interviews with them before, finding random people on the street and
asking them questions. Tao Lin used to be the manager of a major hedge fund
before dedicating his life to writing. Glad he hasn’t forgotten where he came
from, from a life of ease and luxury.
Ryan Chang
took great photos for ‘The Outlet’ some ultra-alt online magazine. How can I
determine their altness? Uh, they have a monthly mix tape. They also take
really crystal clear photos of random New York hipsters. That seems pretty alt
to me. I enjoyed Ryan’s coverage. He seems to ‘get it’. The article is filled
with links showing the background of the hate of Muumuu House, the controversy surrounding
Marie Calloway, and the performance style of Spencer Madsen. I have said this
before: embedded links are the new citation. Normally I don’t recommend an
article so much but Ryan did a good job of capturing the mood and excitement of
the room. On a side note, Ryan has amazing hair. That has got to count for
something. When I think of ‘Perfect Hair Forever’ the short-lived Adult Swim
show, I shall remember his beautiful, beautiful hair.
I
created a genre. I rarely see anything written about myself. According to one
Nic Rad, I am a genre. My reviews of poetry readings (particularly Muumuu
House) are a genre unto themselves. I was unaware of this fact. I want to thank
Nic for his tireless support of my cause. I wonder what I should call the ‘reading
review’ genre. Should I call it a ‘beachie’? Here I’ve been, writing my little
freaking heart out, and only until now have I been deemed ‘worthy’ of genre
creation. Can I refer to my genre as ‘Post-Gonzo’ as I tend to have fun with
the review. I inject love and humor into everything little thing I write. I
want it to count. I want to boost up other writers. What better place than
Muumuu House, which has been ‘on a roll lately’.

the Muumuu House keeps on trucking metaphorically and literally.
