Ullbasunen Och Daniel - ett långt telefonnummer 7.1

                Oh my, Ullbasunen is back, and this time he’s brought company. I remember the silly slapstick antics of their EP a few months back. Now this album does have quite a bit of charm but with a different approach. Whereas before Ullbasunen had a rawer sound, it appears to be a little smoother, a little less jagged than before. The second is a stronger indebtedness to Mr. Oizo’s sound. Now the sound is a bit darker, a little heavier than it was before. This does not mean ‘ett långt telefonnummer’ is a brooding piece, far from it. But the shift in mood is unavoidable. 

                This is a short romp of electronic silliness. Before there was an IDM element in Ullbasunen’s music but now it is much more dominant. Listen to the opening track for the Mr. Oizo dark humorous weirdness. Or the fourth track also offers a certain amount of maniac silliness. No matter what the track though, they rush through these tracks. Some of them are nearly elastic, like the anxious madness of ‘Det är som Hannes låt’.

                I’m a bit surprised by the vocals on here. They are rather unworldly, strange, and at times funny. I can only comprehend a little bit due to being a bit multilingual. Whereas their previous EP sounded like two computers flirting, this sounds more like a little electronic foreplay. It is good stuff, raw and good dirty fun.
